    Ring of Fire

    I keep a journal of my Mediumship journey to keep track of my progress. I’d like to share with you excerpts from two days in May that explain a little bit about the type of messages I get and all the doubt I have in myself and my abilities.

    I am so excited about all of this spirit world stuff that I forget that other people think it’s a joke and not real. I had read for a friend of mine and got a little bit from his Mother. I thought he actually took me seriously because he asked me later to read for his Grandpa. But, it was all a joke and a waste of time. I got somebody, I am not sure who. I asked how they died and they said, “Heart attack.” I asked what they did or liked doing and they said, “Scuba dive and army.” I also got the words “team leader” “Bailey” and “Buick LeSabre.” I got “camping” and “fishing” when I asked what he did with his grandson. I then got “Budweiser” and the song “Ring of Fire” by Johnny Cash. When I told my friend what I got, he responded by saying, “That’s amazing because he was friends with Johnny Cash.” He didn’t say anything else. My heart sank when I read that because I knew right then he didn’t take me seriously at all. I googled my friend’s name and tried to find a Nickolas that might be related to him. I didn’t find anyone named Nickolas. I shouldn’t have, but I responded, “Thanks for making me feel like shit” and then I told him off.

    I could delete part of yesterday’s journal and make myself sound better, but I am not going to. I was wrong about my friend making fun of me. I want my response to my friend to show how much doubt goes on in my head while trying to enter this world of evidential mediumship. If I have even the tiniest seed of doubt I take it and run with it. My friend texted me after I told him off for making fun of me and said, “I did not take it as a joke. My Grandpa owned a bar across the street from the music hall and Johnny Cash would come into his bar when he was in town and they developed a friendship over the years. 100% true story.” I apologized and said, “I just thought you were making fun of me. I am such an asshole.” He said, “I was not making fun of you. I was amazed by the Johnny Cash reference because apparently I met him too, but I was a toddler.” He also told me that the name Bailey was his cousin’s daughter that was killed in an ATV accident. He talked to his Dad and his Dad told him that his Grandpa also always owned older Buicks. His Grandpa was also in the army. I felt foolish, but again it was a good lesson for me to believe in myself and also to trust that others might also believe me. Even if they are few and far between.

    I’ll Be There For You

    It’s a lonely world when you decide you want to become a Medium.The stigma against Mediumship varies from country to country, but in the US it is typically frowned upon. I used to love watching shows like Long Island Medium with Teresa Caputo. I thought because her shows were so popular that it was more accepted now, but clearly it is not. I have been keeping this journey for the most part to myself, but I have reached out to a few people to ask if they wanted to be volunteers for VerySoul. This was not for me to read them, it was for them to be read by a practicing Medium who would have had more practice than me. I tried 13 times and only one person was excited about it, but they never ended up doing it, two said they would do it, but I don’t think they did, eight people left me unread, one told me that’s just not something they are comfortable with (I appreciated their honesty), and one flat out told me off. So I am keeping my name off of this website and no longer contacting anyone I know.

    I started this journey just to see if it was real. I had heard that ANYONE can connect with spirit if they devoted their time to it and practiced with the intention of the greater good. I had always had an intense and accurate intuition. People I loved that had passed away came to me in dreams with information to pass on to the living and it was always accurate and things I shouldn’t have known. I had premonition dreams that came true. So I tried meditating like I have never meditated before. I was able to quiet my mind and be still. Spirit slowly gave me messages over time, and then started to give me messages during my morning run or while I was driving. It seems as though while you are busy with a mundane task, your mind is clear enough to receive messages as well. You train for Mediumship just as you would train for a half marathon or any other sport. It’s like improving your strength and talent, the more you practice, the longer you can quiet your mind, the more information you can get. I am still practicing and in the early stages, but I do get little hellos and what I like to call “winks” from the other side. It’s always somewhat of a puzzle, but I get something and it’s only something that person would know. Nothing I could google.

    Here is an example of what I do get from my journal. I am keeping a journal to keep track of my progress. This was from a live practice session with another Medium on VerySoul.

    I had a practice session with a woman from Australia. She was nice to work with, but said she was in a bit of a hurry, so we tried not to talk too much and just jump right in. I went first and the song by Bon Jovi I had heard the other day came into my head again. Honestly, taco salad came in before that, but I just left that. It seemed very American and I thought it probably wasn’t anything. I asked her if she had a birthday recently and she said, “No.” I then asked if the song “I’ll Be There for You” by Bon Jovi meant anything to her. She said, “Yes it does,” and explained that “I’ll Be There for You” pointed to her sister’s addiction to the TV show Friends because the theme song from Friends is also “I’ll Be There for You.” She said that Bon Jovi was someone they watched constantly on TV when they were younger and she thought it was so clever how her sister brought the two together. She said every time her sister comes through during a reading she brings up Friends. She then asked for the specific lyrics I heard, they were:

    I wasn’t there when you were happy

    (I wasn’t there to make you happy)

    And I wasn’t there when you were down, down

    Didn’t mean to miss your birthday, baby

    I wish I had seen you blow those candles out

    She teared up and she said she couldn’t believe how there could be “so many layers” to these lyrics. She said there was a birthday recently, but it wasn’t hers. She said her family had recently celebrated her Father and Brother’s birthdays over the weekend. I can’t remember who went first, but one blew candles out on the cake and then they re-lit them and then the other person blew out the candles. She said in that moment she thought about how she wished her sister could have been there and wondered if she was there in spirit. She said she felt strongly that her sister was sending a message telling her that she was in fact at the birthday party. She said her sister loved parties and she never missed one when she was alive.

This is not a party trick, please don’t ask them to send yo a specific song or lyric, it just doesn’t work that way (I have tried with a few relatives who are accepting of my journey and it just doesn’t work). They only give me something they want to tell you, not the other way around. Sometimes they only send things validating that they have been around you, other times they send messages of love in unique ways. Please understand this is not in any way demonic. This is strictly working in white light and love. It is with a higher power that is around us everyday. You can call that higher power whatever you want, I call it God.

    Where Is The Love?

    Would you still hate or judge people of other religions, nationalities, ethnic affiliations, races or genders if you knew that you may have been part of a different religion, had a different nationality, ethnic affiliation, race or gender in another lifetime?

    A man named Ian Stevenson, MD who died in 2007, was a psychiatrist at the University of Virginia. He spent 40 years researching and documenting reincarnation and past lives. For 20 of those years he compiled and studied 2500 cases involving children who spontaneously remembered past lives in detail. In about 1500 of those cases, the past lives of those children could be factually validated. He had a team of researchers from all over the world to help him. The researchers found that when reincarnated, a person can change religion, nationality, ethnic affiliation, race and gender from one lifetime to another. Change in gender happened less frequently – only 10% of the cases. Researchers suspected that if a soul is accustomed to incarnating in one gender and then has a lifetime as the opposite sex, that soul may identify with the previous usual gender which could lead to transsexualism, transgender issues and gender identity disorder.

    I believe we were all put on this earth to learn lessons, improve our soul and the souls of others. I believe we do reincarnate into other demographics so that we can learn and get a different perspective on life. As the saying goes, walk a mile in someone else’s shoes to really understand them. How about a lifetime?

    I think with all of the hate and anger that is so prevalent right now many of us may have lost our way and need to reconnect with our inner soul. If we all took a time out and looked within ourselves maybe the world would be a better place. We don’t need to be so judgmental, so hateful, so rushed and impatient. We are here for a reason. You are here for a reason. Be kind and try to see others as the beautiful imperfect souls that they are. We are all just trying to learn and be better, sometimes we just need a gentle reminder.
