    Light in the Darkness

    One of the things that I have found interesting with my Mediumship journey is that when you become a Medium, somehow word travels throughout the spirit world and before you know it, people that you might have only connected to briefly in life show up in readings. I picture myself and other Mediums as a lighthouse in the darkness and spirits that really just want to connect with the living find us somehow. 

    The following is an example from my journal of what happened while I was being read by a Medium who I thought was very good, and everything she said felt very legitimate. She brought in someone I knew from my past, but I just didn’t know them that well.

    June 11, 2025

    My practice partner went first and connected with my Mom’s old friend, Charlotte. My partner was a little hesitant about connecting with Charlotte because Charlotte was black and she was giving her motherly vibes. She thought there was no way I had a black Mom and she wasn’t sure if I would know her at all. When she said her description I instantly knew who it was. She said she had on thick white nursing shoes and an apron. She thought maybe she was a nurse because of the white shoes. She wasn’t a nurse, those thick white shoes and apron were symbols of her working in a cafeteria. My Mom worked in my elementary school’s cafeteria for a couple of years, and Charlotte was my Mom’s boss. I really liked hearing from Charlotte. I remembered how she was always so nice to me. I remembered her personality and it really came through in the reading.

    When I told my Mom Charlotte had come through she was happy and surprised. My Mom didn’t expect Charlotte to come through because of their falling out. Charlotte was clearly over it and sent her nothing but love. Charlotte’s message was, “Everything that goes on in this life doesn’t carry over as pain, it carries over as information.”

    My Mom only knew Charlotte for two of the 72 years she has been on this earth. The fact that she came through just solidifies my belief that we are all connected during this life and after. There is a reason for every connection we have no matter how long or how little you know someone. Everyone teaches you a lesson or brings something into your life that you need.

    I believe that people who pass over want to communicate with the living and I think when they find out someone they knew during their life starts working on their Mediumship skills, even if it was for a short while, they gather close because there aren’t many avenues for them to get in touch with the living. I mentioned in a post a few days ago that I encounter a lot of phonies while practicing. I just want to say that there are still real, legitimate Mediums out there, and I have come across several. I hope that if you ever decide to work with a Medium that you find one that is real, because what they can offer from the other side is truly amazing.

    Queen of My Double Wide Trailer

    I get a lot of messages through music from spirit. I don’t always have to be meditating. I just need to be doing a mundane task that takes my mind off of things. My mind has to be clear and not clouded with a bunch of the typical thoughts we all get throughout the day. Sometimes I get the music directly in my head and other times I get it through the music on the radio in my car or from my phone when I have iTunes on shuffle. I do this so that my music can be controlled by spirit. I don’t know how or why, but they seem to be able to control energy like lights, radios, televisions, computers, phones, etc. Pay attention to the music you hear. If you repeatedly hear a song, it may be a message the spirit world is trying to communicate with you or you may hear a song in response to a problem you are currently trying to work through in your life.

    My Dad is so clever when he comes to visit me. I went for a run this morning and during the run I heard an old song that I had downloaded a few years back because it was a song he liked and it made me think of him. Towards the end of my run I heard another old song that always makes me think of him as well and I realized he was saying, “Hi” and letting me know that he was around. I said (in my head) “Hey, I know I shouldn’t ask, but if you can, can you make the next song something that will tell me it’s you?” The starting melody of “Queen of My Double Wide Trailer “ by Sammy Kershaw came on and I thought, “Okay, bummer, it’s not him.” But then, I heard the first lyric and realized it WAS him. The lyric was, “Well I met her out at Murphy’s Restaurant, she said she was fresh from the farm.” That was a direct reference to him and my Mom meeting. They met pretty soon after she had moved to Omaha. It wasn’t a restaurant, but she was literally “fresh from the farm.” The wonderful feeling I get from these clever little messages is priceless. I just want to give other people that feeling too!
