Rock On

I’d like to share a more recent experience with you. This is from my journal. I refer to the person I am reading as my sitter. This is a common term that Mediums use. If you ever hear of a Medium looking for a sitter, they are looking for someone they can practice on, that they can “read.”

June 9, 2025

In the evening I had my first online practice reading in a while. I went first and decided just to ask my sitter if there was anyone she wanted to connect with. She said, “Yes, definitely,” and I asked her to just give me names and nothing else. She first gave me the name Annie and it ended up being her Mom. I got “Texas” and then “Roadhouse” and she said, “Yep!” She told me later that Annie was her Mom and she was from Texas and loved to go to chain restaurants. I got “Billie Jean,” and I said, “I think that has to do with Michael Jackson.” She said, “Oh, definitely.” She later told me the song “Smooth Criminal” by Michael Jackson popped in her head as I read her and that song’s lyrics include “Annie, are you okay?” Which, just a side note, that lyric refers to resuscitating Anne, a CPR training dummy. That doesn’t have to do with anything I was just surprised by that info. I got a slight vision of birds and the words “Parrot” and “Parakeet” and asked her if she had birds or what did that have to do with anything and she told me her Dad carved birds and her Mom watched birds. I got just a simple sound I couldn’t place at the time and “Jimmy Dean.” After the reading I realized the sound and “Jimmy Dean” were from the song “Rock On” by David Essex. The lyrics, “Where do we go from here,” and “Which is the way that’s clear” keep repeating in the song.

She asked me to try to connect with someone else after receiving information from her Mom, so I said I would, but I would only try for 5 minutes. She gave me another name, and it ended up being her cousin. Right away I heard,”RuPaul’s Drag Race,” and my sitter laughed and said that was a show in Vegas and she and her husband had just gone to Vegas. Her cousin then led me to the song “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” by Deep Blue Something. I had heard this song in the morning when I woke up and wondered why. She said she thought that was her cousin slightly teasing her about getting room service for breakfast at the hotel. She said her cousin would have thought it to be somewhat snobby to do so. I thought it was interesting that even though contacting her cousin was spur of the moment, her cousin already knew in the morning that it would happen.

I tried meditate in the morning, but I couldn’t focus. I felt like I needed to tell my sitter from last night what her song was. I ended up emailing her to tell her about the song that her mother had given her, “Rock On” by David Essex. When she emailed back, she said that the song made perfect sense to her. She said it touched her heart from the beginning because of the drumming sounds. She said it makes a very Native American sound in the beginning and that she has a drum that she really wants to incorporate into her Reiki sessions. She said she wants her Reiki sessions to have some elements of Shamanism.

She said the line that said, “Where do we go from here, and which is the way that’s clear” made total sense because she and her husband are looking for a new home. They have tried for three so far and have lost out on all three. She said she knows the universe had their backs and it will deliver their perfect home and help a buyer for their current home just land on their feet when they are ready, but at times they wonder, “Where do we go from here?” 

She said the song ended up being so meaningful it made her tear up and thanked me. She said I am super gifted, but in a unique way from other Mediums. That meant a lot to me and made me feel so good.
